After completing her combined family medicine and psychiatry resident she continued her training with a fellowship in addiction medicine at Stanford where she was actively involved in research and teaching.

Dr. Ogbonna is an active speaker on screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT), with a specific focus on prevention and early intervention among adolescents and young adults. Her clinical focus also includes dual diagnoses, chronic pain, and increasing integration of medicine and psychiatry in primary care.

Dr. Ogbonna currently works as an Addiction Medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Chemical Dependency Services in San Jose, CA.

Shanna (she/her) graduated from the Family Medicine-Psychiatry residency in 2018 and was the first fellow in Global Health Faculty Development from 2018-2020. In fellowship she earned an MPH, studied depression in Guatemala, and provided care to Cincinnati immigrants/refugees. She is now on our faculty and provides psychiatric and primary care at a local FQHC to neighbors in Walnut Hills, regional LGBTQ+ folx and people living with HIV. She also does community-based participatory action research and teaches early-career primary care fellows about mental health integration into primary care. She remains involved in the Department's partnerships in Guatemala and Tanzania.

At Banso Hospital in Kumbo, Cameroon she practices on the inpatient medical ward as well as helping to coordinate the outpatient mental health services. She staffs 2 clinics for the Cincinnati Health Department. One is located inside of Riverview East Academy. It is part of the School Based Health Division and it is a longitudinal clinic site for the residency. The other is a traditional FQHC model. She practice Family Medicine and Geriatrics at both locations. In Haiti, she helps to manage the pediatric, adult medicine, and Gyn outpatient clinics in addition to the inpatient service. Currently the Chief Medical Office and Co-founder of Integrative Family Care of Cincinnati a Direct Primary Care clinic. She maintains a faculty position in the residency to focus on Quality Improvement in the FMC, especially in EMR training and Practice Management. Both of these efforts are part of an overall goal to reduce burnout in family medicine, to help us return to our roots as independent physicians who can respond to the needs of our community.
She also maintains an active acupuncture practice, and enjoys learning more about integrative medicine, procedures, women's health, and anything outdoors that has nothing to do with medicine.

Gurpreet jumped around a lot before she started residency and continues to jump around thereafter. Her primary career interest is in international health/under resourced settings, especially in areas with difficult medical access. Following graduation, Gurpreet worked a year in a FQHC in Saginaw, Michigan before moving to work with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Since then, she has jumped between locums assignments in Michigan (outpatient and urgent care) and MSF assignments in Africa. Gurpreet has worked for MSF within a variety of medical roles including medical doctor in a pediatric malnutrition ward (SNNPR, Ethiopia) and start up project (Thonyor, South Sudan); mobile medical team manager (Somali Region, Ethiopia), outreach surveillance team manager (Mtendeli Refugee Camp, Tanzania) and overall project medical team leader (Zamfara, Nigeria). Currently, she is working an outpatient locums assignment in Colorado.
