UC Family Medicine and Psychiatry Program

Welcome to OUr Combined Program!

Welcome to the University of Cincinnati/The Christ Hospital's Family Medicine and Psychiatry program! The combined program was born in 1995 at the request of one of the University of Cincinnati medical students, which makes our program the longest-running FMP program in the United States. We are lucky to have a committed and passionate program director dedicated solely to the FMP program. There are two positions available per year and many marvelous residents have graduated thus far from our program.

This rigorous training program spans five years, the duration of which encompasses experiences in both specialties.  At the completion of the five years, residents are eligible to sit for the board exams of both specialties. However, we would not be a truly combined residency if we did not also focus on integrated and collaborative care. Throughout the five years there are multiple opportunities to learn and practice collaborative care, which often leads to unique and exciting career opportunities. This program aims to train clinicians who are motivated to continue to use the skills obtained in both specialties throughout their careers.
